Express Fall to Iowa Cubs 3-2
DES MOINES, Iowa - Bobby Scales' RBI single lifted the Iowa Cubs over the Round Rock Express Saturday night in Pacific Coast League action at Principal Park. Saturday night's game two was a seven inning affair. The Express (35-27) and Cubs (28-34) will play the finale of this four-game series Sunday afternoon.
With the game tied 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Jeff Baker led off with a double off Cody Eppley. After Baker advanced to third on a wild pitch, Bryan LaHair and Welington Castillo were intentionally walked to load the bases. Bobby Scales then delivered the game-winning single to send the Cubs home with a 3-2 win.
Eppley (1-1) allowed one run on two hits with two walks without recording an out to get the loss. Esmailin Caridad (3-1) got the win after pitching two-thirds of an inning without allowing a base runner and striking out one.
The Express got on board in the first inning on Chad Tracy's two-run home run. Brian Barden scored on the play after getting hit by a pitch.
The Cubs scored in the second inning on Matt Camp's RBI single to make the score 2-1. The Cubs tied the game 2-2 in the fifth on Castillo's RBI single.
Neil Ramirez started the game for the Express, lasting 4.1 innings and allowing two runs - both earned - on five hits while walking four and striking out four. He did not factor into the decision.
Cubs starter Marco Carillo did not factor either. He threw 4.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits while walking one and striking out three.
EXPRESS WIN GAME ONE 11-2
The Express won the first game of the doubleheader 11-2. It was the continuation of Thursday's rain-suspended game, picked up in the bottom of the fourth inning with the Express leading 8-1.
The Express got on the board in the first inning Thursday when Tracy hit a three-run home run off of Alberto Cabrera to give the Express a 3-0 lead.
The Express added three more runs in the third inning on a Barden sacrifice fly and a two-run triple by Doug Deeds.
Brad Nelson doubled in two runs in the fourth inning to give the Express an 8-0 lead.
The Cubs got a run in the fourth before the rain started when Castillo doubled off Brett Tomko to drive in LaHair.
Saturday, the Cubs scored in the seventh inning on Augie Ojeda's RBI double to right field to make the score 8-2. The Express added two runs in the top of the eighth. Julio Borbon and Luis Cruz each had an RBI double in the inning. Borbon added another RBI double in the ninth to make the score 11-2.

A look at the rosters for the 2011 Texas League All-Star Game, which is set for June 29 at San Antonio's Wolff Stadium, suggests good news: the game's most highly touted up-and-comers are as well as expected.
Of the preseason picks to be named among MLB.com's Top 50 Prospects in all of baseball, five have been selected as All-Stars just in the Texas League, one of three Double-A circuits and 10 full-season leagues. Several other touted prospects, including former first-round picks, also appear on the rosters. The way they've lived up to the hype so far, these players are destined to make this year's midsummer showcase one to remember.
Angels prospect Mike Trout, who tops the MLB.com list , has been tabbed to start in the outfield for the North Division team. As of Saturday, Trout was second in the circuit with 19 stolen bases and is batting .307, and his Arkansas Travelers were first in the division.
The Travs had nine players named All-Stars, more than any other team in the Texas League. Trevor Reckling and Garrett Richards, considered two of the Angels' finest pitching prospects, are among five Arkansas hurlers on the North Division squad.
Also joining Trout on the North team will be Rockies prospects Wilin Rosario and Christian Friedrich, MLB.com's No. 41 and 50 Top Prospects , respectively. Their Tulsa teammate Juan Nicasio, who currently leads the league with a 2.22 ERA, was picked, too.
The South Division team can count on big things from big names, as well. Casey Kelly ( MLB.com's No. 22 pick ) is among eight San Antonio players honored with a selection. Entering Saturday's action, Kelly led the loop with 72 1/3 innings pitched and was 10 strikeouts behind league-leader Martin Perez, who'd fanned 65. Perez ( No. 23 ) will join Kelly on the South staff, and it serves him right; he'd put up a 4-0 record and 2.60 ERA through 12 starts. The Rangers prospect will be joined by seven other Frisco players.
Midland's Jermaine Mitchell, who leads the league in runs scored, and Grant Green, who was a first-round pick of Oakland in 2009, should provide an offensive boost for the South Division, with San Antonio's Vincent Belnome (11 homers) and Sawyer Carroll (.554 slugging percentage) lending pop.
