JACKSON, MO. > Husband is 'person of interest' in disappearance — Police said Monday that the husband of a 39-year-old woman who vanished last week was a "person of interest" in the case. Police also said they believed the disappearance of Jacque Sue Waller was the result of a crime, but they refuse to say why they believe that. Waller was last seen in Jackson, Mo., on Wednesday, police said. Police said her estranged husband, Clay Waller, was a "person of interest" in the case, but they declined to call him a suspect. Jackson is about 10 miles northwest of Cape Girardeau. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Jackson police at 573-243-3151.

EDWARDSVILLE > Sex abuse suspect faces new charge — Kassidy C. Kueper, who was charged with inappropriately touching a girl at a YMCA activity camp in April, has now been charged with a similar offense involving a different child at a YMCA camp last year. Kueper, 28, of the 100 block of Summit Hill Drive near Wood River, was charged Monday with aggravated criminal sexual abuse of an 8-year-old girl between June 1 and Aug. 3, 2010. Kueper is a former part-time employee of the Edwardsville YMCA. In April, Kueper was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse for alleged inappropriate contact with a 9-year-old girl on April 20.

ST. LOUIS > Another arrest linked to ATM Solutions robbery — An area woman has been arrested on a federal charge and accused of helping to hide and spend some of the $6.6 million stolen in last summer's robbery of ATM Solutions. Yolanda "Net" Willis, 37, was charged Thursday with obstructing, delaying or affecting interstate commerce by robbery and was arrested Friday, according to court documents unsealed Monday. According to those charging documents, Willis and relatives removed "large portions" of millions of dollars being stored in a Bellefontaine Neighbors self-storage facility. In all, $6.6 million was taken in the Aug. 2 robbery. Willis had been given the entry code and storage unit number by Latunya Wright, who has already pleaded guilty and admitted to her role in hiding money, documents show. Wright told investigators that Willis used some of the money for the down payment on a 2003 Mercedes Benz S430. Willis works for a home health care company and a home day care, documents show.

ST. LOUIS > Man admits role in phony check scheme — Dante Karyn Sumlar, 34, pleaded guilty to federal charges Monday and admitted a role in the cashing or attempt to cash hundreds of checks worth more than $400,000 in three states, including a fake Florida lottery check. As part of his guilty plea in federal court here to three conspiracy charges, Sumlar admitted that between Sept. 1, 2009, and Jan. 23, 2010, he and 11 co-conspirators created hundreds of fake business checks and cashed them at various local U.S. Bank branches for more than $400,000. On Nov. 8, 2006, Sumlar and a co-defendant unsuccessfully tried to cash a fake $42,477.58 check from the Florida lottery at a bank in Mobile, Ala., Sumlar's plea says. From Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, 2007, Sumlar and co-conspirators ran a phony check scheme in Texas, using fake checks to buy gift cards at retailers in the Houston area, his plea says. In all, Sumlar's schemes netted between $400,000 and $1 million, his plea says.

American Buildings Co. (ABC), a manufacturer of metal building systems for self-storage and other industries, recently honored the city of Jackson, Tenn., for choosing American-made steel in the recent construction of the Jackson Transit Authority (JTA). On March 18, Kevin Cook, district sales manager of ABC, and representatives from Hoyt Hayes Construction, the general contracting company responsible for building JTA, presented JTA general manager Johnny Gullet with a “Proud to Buy American” plaque.

The City of Jackson received funding for the project from the Federal Transit Administration, the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the city of Jackson. It also had assistance from the American Recovery Act, which meant it was required to use a general contractor who works exclusively with American products. After an extensive bid process, authorized ABC builder Hoyt Hayes was chosen because of its dedication to American products and proven track record of construction quality.

“This building has been greatly anticipated by the Jackson community, and we were honored to be chosen as the general contractor,” said Josh Hayes of Hoyt Hayes. “Constructing metal buildings made of American steel inspires an immense sense of pride within our company.”
