PrimeTime 50+, the senior ministry of Brookwood Church, 580 Brookwood Point Place, Simpsonville, will meet at 5:30 p.m. June 19 in the chapel on the second floor. The hours are 5-6:45 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m.-noon Thursdays. God's Pantry, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, depends on volunteers and donors. Food is packed for distribution at 1312-A Old Stage Road in Mauldin. Call 963-4441. • Simpsonville First Free Will Baptist Church, 1403 E. Georgia Road, Simpsonville, will present the program Kids with A King at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays for children in grades 1-4. The program features Bible activities, games, singing and more. The church also will offer the His Hands Sign Team at 7:30 p.m. for students in grades 5-12. Participants will learn to use signing to communicate the Gospel through song. • Power Hour for Preschoolers, a program for children ages 18 months-4 years and their parents, grandparents or caregivers, is offered from 6-7 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of the month at Abiding Peace Lutheran Church, 401 Batesville Road, Simpsonville.

Unconditional Love Christian Fellowship Church Hosts Outreach ...

Youth and community were at the forefront of an event held at Unconditional Love Christian Fellowship church Saturday afternoon. Hosted by Pastor Greg Boyle, members of his congregation, and the Heights Neighborhood Association, the goal of the day was to address crime prevention and to uplift young people in the surrounding area.

"We wanted to do an outreach event that we had previously committed to do for the community," said Boyle. "We attended a community meeting in April that took place as a result of a local homicide. Our main concern is the young people and helping them get on the right track."

Despite the rain, church members barbequed hot dogs, hamburgers, and also served other treats to the attendees. Inspiring music was performed by members of the church's music ministry.

On hand to share his experiences and talents was Newark resident and guest speaker Earl Best, who is also known as "The Street Doctor." The keynote speaker of the day was Juan DeJesus, a former member of the Latin Kings gang. DeJesus shared his rap ministry and testimony about his former lifestyle.

"This is the start of other things," said Boyle. "The youth in this community are important to us."
