Portwalk project on pace for fall finishPORTSMOUTH — The framing is complete for The Residences at Portwalk, a $6.8 million mixed-use apartment building in the city's downtown.
The 5-story, 52,000-square-foot luxury apartment building is on Hanover Street and part of Portwalk, a mixed-use development project. The Residences at Portwalk offers 36 upscale apartments with kitchens and many other amenities. There is also 9,400 square feet of ground-level retail space available. The project is on pace for completion in the fall.
National Night Out planning meeting set
Neighborhoods interested in participating in the 17th annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 2, should send a representative to the planning meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the police station.
The annual event is designed to increase crime prevention awareness, generate participation in local anti-crime programs, and send criminals a message that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. It is co-sponsored by the Citywide Neighborhood Committee and city police.
Participating neighborhood groups must complete a form and attend at least one planning meeting. A second organizational meeting will be held in conjunction with the Citywide Neighborhood Committee meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, in Conference Room A at City Hall. Pocket garden tours
The 22nd annual South Church Pocket Gardens of Portsmouth tour will take place this year in the South End beginning Friday, June 17. From 5 to 8 p.m., visitors can tour gardens in neighborhoods in the Strawberry Banke area. As an added bonus, local musicians are expected to perform in several of the tour stops.
Tickets are $17 in advance and $20 on the day of the tour. Tickets include descriptions of the gardens, an official tour map and other information.
