Martha Elizabeth Thomas and Thomas Joshua Moore were married on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Sanford. Dr. Jeff Clark officiated at the ceremony.
The reception was hosted by the parents of the bride at the Elks Club in Sanford.
The bride is the daughter of Mike and Judy Thomas, of Sanford, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew G. Siegner, JoAnn C. Thomas and the late Aubrey Scott Thomas. She attended Lee County High School and East Carolina University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She is currently employed as an ICU nurse with Wake Med Hospital.
The bridegroom is the son of Richard and Nina Moore, of Apex, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Richard V. Moore, Ronald Weaver, Teresa Shaffer and the late Richard Shaffer. He attended Apex High School, Wake Tech Community College and North Carolina State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental technology with a minor in toxicology. He is currently pursuing a graduate degree in environmental assessment from North Carolina State University. He is employed with Foster Lake and Pond Management in Garner.
The bride was escorted by her father, Mike Thomas. She wore an ivory, mermaid silhouette gown of satin-back taffeta enhanced with a strapless sweetheart neckline encrusted with crystals and sequins. The bodice featured ruching from a center crystal brooch. The v-shaped back featured crystal buttons and led to a cathedral train. She wore an ivory fingertip veil with satin edging and carried a hand-tied bouquet of hydrangea, gerber daisies and star gazer lilies. The bride, her sister, her mother and grandmothers each carried handkerchiefs made from her mother's wedding dress.
Audrey Jo Thomas Stone, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor. Mary Beth Stec, cousin of the bride, Lindsey Bruton, Amy Carrere and Diane Hendrix were bridesmaids.
Brandon Roberts was the best man. Zak Davenport, Tim Mersinger, Andrew Wilson and Josh Johnson were groomsmen.
Flower girls were Lindsay Beth Spivey and Addison Lee Spivey, cousins of the bride.
Wedding music was provided by Dianne Stanley, organist; Leslie Hanna, vocalist; Randolyn Emerson, violinist; and Richard Warren, trumpeter.
Betty Thompson directed the wedding.
Following a wedding trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple reside in Holly Springs.
