Four Player Co-op 07.20.11: PopCap, South Park, Duke Nukem Forever, More

Will Mario be part of the first first-party title for the Wii-U? Why did Duke Nukem place so high on the June NPD's? Are there any decent South Park games? And are gamers over the age of thirty "weird"? The 411 staff debates these topics and more in the latest 4PC!

QUESTION ONE: I'm not saying The Today Show is where you go for hard news and facts, but what the hell, they were the ones who opened their mouths, so here we go. During a Q&A segment last week, their response to the idea that men over thirty played video games was, and I quote, "that's weird". This despite a study showing that the average age for gamers is…drumroll…37. Maybe it's just bugging me because I'm 30 (shut up), but whatever the case, anyone feel like offering some mockery here?

31 here. I have been playing games since the days of the Odyssey II. I work a steady job, make a loan payment, and am a slave to the grind like everyone else. Video games are a way to relax, and unwind after a rough day at the office. If I choose to unwind with a book, I can do that to. Maybe I feel like watching a movie, is that weird too? Since I am 31 should I still be out clubbing and trying to pick up college co-eds? Would that be more normal behavior ? I don't see anything wrong with playing video games at any age. If I can get my 75 year old grandma to play some Mario, you could bet your ass I would do so in a second. My grandfather, who is pushing 80 is addicted to Farmville. He's raised a family of 7, took care of a diabetic wife for years, and was even mayor of his small town for a time. If the man wants to relax playing a little Farmville, who the fuck is Donny Deutsch-bag to say that is weird?

I refuse to acknowledge anything from that show, because it clearly appeals to the "dimwit female" demographic. Why can't you be mature and a gamer? My dad got into gaming late in his life (after he got me my first console) and even at 58, he still enjoys Zelda, Tomb Raider and other games. My mom doesn't complain. I have a girlfriend. I am 26, she is 23. We game together. Never heard a word of "you are immature" from her. My older cousins are all over 30 and they all game. Most of their wives game with them and those that don't, they don't complain.

Independent stores make up for loss of Borders

As a lifelong bookworm who still can't imagine reading a novel on a small, handheld device, I'd never celebrate the loss of a brick-and-mortar bookstore. But I do take comfort in what seems to be a reverse trend. After years of seeing small,
