Kid Rock powers through storms for 2nd Comerica Park show

Early Saturday evening fans were rightfully nervous as they walked out of their preconcert festivities at the different downtown bars and the rock n roll carnival in the parking lot just north of the ballpark to head into the final night of Rocks weekend home stand at Comerica Park under a threatening sky. It was disappointing for some Sammy Hagar and the Wabos fans who lost out on a few songs from the Red Rockers opening set as a furious thunderstorm unloaded on downtown concertgoers, prompting promoters to shut him down early. But even after the main floor was cleared out to ensure the safety of thousands of people, the frustration was short-lived, as fans were able to quickly return to their seats on the main floor after the storm pounded away for about 30 minutes.
At 9:15 p.m. Saturday night, about 20 minutes after the Comerica scoreboard displayed the message that the show would commence at 9:55 p.m., the main event was underway with a pyrotechnic-assisted American Bad Ass. What followed during the next two-plus hours was nothing short of pure Kid Rock-and-roll bliss.

Washington Townships Ryan Buchowski, 29, said he saw Rock at DTE Energy Music Theatre in the past but Saturdays show had a different type of electricity.
The way the stage was set up to the fireworks going off, the first song alone was better than the whole show I saw at DTE, he said. He sounds great, the stage looks awesome and the atmosphere is incredible.
