Pregnant woman killed during a fight
By Evelyn Usman
Perhaps, if Mrs. Ruth Ijuo had known that his simple response to derogatory remarks by one of his neighbors last week would result in his fall, she would have managed to keep his emotions under control.
The 30 year old woman, pregnant would have had a verbal confrontation with his 42-year neighbor, Mary Peter Olorunshogo at their home in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
The dispute, said to have been caused by a failure of one of them to sweep the compound, later degenerated into battle with one of them threatening to leave an indelible mark on the other.Rather than an indelible mark, which could one day be gone, she caused the death of the pregnant woman.
Crime Alert gathered that two women were involved in the fight, three others said to be linked to its neighbor, Mary Peter, allegedly beat Ms. Ijuo a stupor, resulting in her being unconscious.
At first, his position was still taken by his rivals as an excuse. But a tenant with a curious attempt to separate the fighters have failed, reportedly went to the victim on the ground where it was discovered that the pregnant woman was not breathing. She was subsequently taken to hospital where, unfortunately, it has been confirmed dead the next day.
The police division Igbegba who were alerted, rushed to the enclosure where gangs who beat the pregnant woman were arrested. The suspects, whose identities were given as Linda Agi (18), Udaga gifts (17), Bose Ochieni Rita (15 years) and Marie-Pierre (42yrs), all of Okun Owa, Ijebu-Ode, have expressed shock when informed of the death of Ms. Ijuo.
The case, according to a spokesman for the Police Command of Ogun State, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Branch Department of State, Abeokuta, where the suspects would be charged in court .
.... As a mother of arrest from the police, the son, over alleged murder
In his wildest imagination, Ms. Jemilat Lateef, not expecting to spend a day this year in the police cell. But as you read this play, it probably can either pass the rest of his life in prison, or even suffer a little more, as determined by the court.
This is because it would have a man beaten to death. But she is not alone in this area. The 19-year old son, Sunday Lateef is also in the net of the police for allegedly joining her mother in the fight that sent one Mr. Bunmi Rilawan Oguntayo a tomb prepared.
$130 Million Missing???? 1031 Exchange in Trouble
Where to start with this story? He has a lot of moving parts and players: more than $ 130 million of the missing money to start, and criminal investigations, civil suits and hundreds of real estate offers in the work suspended. And may result from all this could come a further examination of the growth of the industry's 1031 tax return. The troubles emerged last week when the 1031 Tax Group LLC, a Richmond, Virginia based private consolidated group of qualified intermediaries for deferred exchanges of property, as such, filed for Chapter 11 reorganization in Bankruptcy Court United States for the Southern District of New York. Edward H.Okun is owner and sole "member" of the 1031 Tax Group. Also filing for Chapter 11 as 16 other companies drove the group's subsidiaries in 1031 of the tax, each designated as qualified intermediaries created to service the exchange of real estate. Intermediaries are spread across the country, including San Jose, Boston, Denver, San Antonio, Tampa and New York. For the record, the others are: 1031 132 Advance LLC, 1031 Advance Inc., 1031 TG Oak Harbor LLC, Atlantic Exchange Company Inc.; Atlantic Exchange Company LLC; Exchange Management LLC, Investment Exchange Group LLC; Accommodators Exchange LLC national service national trade QI Ltd, National Intermediary, Ltd.; NRC 1031 LLC, Real Estate Exchange Services Inc., Rutherford Investment LLC; Security 1031 Services LLC and Shamrock Holdings Group LLC. 1031 Tax Group et al cited "liquidity issues" in his decision to seek bankruptcy protection, including measures taken by several financial institutions to block access to 1031 Tax Fund Group. The debtors estimate that on a balance sheet basis their assets exceed their obligations to customers and others. Calling them liquidity issues is putting it mildly. The 20 largest creditors listed with the initial bankruptcy filing were listed as being owed more than $65 million. In a typical 1031 exchange, an exchanger sells its business or investment real estate and then has 45 days from the date of sale of the property to identify a like kind replacement property and it has 180 days from the date of the sale to close on the purchase of that replacement property without suffering any tax consequence.
